  1. The Big Snare

From the recording I Shih Tzu Not - 2023

PATRICK FROST - Vocals, Keyboards and samples,
JIM LUCAS - Electric Bass (with a dying 9 volt battery for distortion)
CHANDLER HAUGHTON - Electric Guitar
CHARLES SILVA - Drums

engineered and produced by Patrick Frost

A very old song about pop culture, trends and such. Written during our last year in Huber Heights, Ohio. The nod to Sting was contemporary. The Police were at their career apex so it was appropriate to pick on him in those days. In 2017 I recorded some songs for Chandler and Charles and they recorded the rock stuff at the end of the track.

Lyrics

THE BIG SNARE - 1989
words and music by Patrick Frost

Andy Warhol said it right.
Each of us has fifteen minutes
To hit our mark in the spotlight.
A year's supply of Minute Rice

And the big snare
On two and four.
It's the big snare.
Key to the door.
I'm gonna capture the world by it's ear
with a big snare.

Capture fame and fortune with a snare.
Let cable TV comb your hair.
And when the holy wars retreat
Sell your stock in Maybelline.

And the big snare
On two and four.
It's the big snare.
Key to the door.
I'm gonna capture the world by it's ear
with a big snare.

Fancy clothes, jealous women,
Funny hats, trendy cars

And the big snare
On two and four.
It's the big snare.
Key to the door.
I'm gonna capture the world by it's ear
with a big snare.

To climb a ladder of success
Built on rungs of broken hearts.
Construct a Hoola-Hoop kingdom
On a street of cobblestone Pet Rocks.

And the big snare
On two and four.
It's the big snare.
Key to the door.
I'm gonna capture the world by it's ear
with a big snare.

I will copy you.
I will copy you.
