Tom Reynolds (Tommy Rey) is a dear friend and mentor. He is also the man who has custom made Steel Pans for me and kept all of my Steel Pans tuned for over twenty years. Tom has also had a rich and varied successful career in music. In 1969-1970 Tom was in as LA based band named Shango who recorded on A&M Records and had a Hot 100 chart appearance with this song. So, fifty years later I invited Tom to play and sing on this cover of that very song.

Lyrics

DAY AFTER DAY
words and music by Jerry Riopelle, Stuart Margolin, Tom Reynolds

Day after day, more people come to L.A.
Shhh. Don't you tell anybody, the whole place slipping away.
Where can we go, when there's no San Francisco?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho

Day after day, more people come to L.A.
Shhh. Don't you tell anybody the whole place slipping away.
Where can we go when there's no San Francisco?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

Do you know the swim, you better learn quick Jim
Those who don't know the swim, better sing the hymn.

Day after day more people come to L.A.
Shhh. Don't you tell anybody, the whole place shakin' away.
Where can we go, when there's no San Diego?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

Tuna at the bowl
Fine fillet of much sole!
Ooooo what can we do
With a bushel of wet gold?

Day after day, more people come to L.A.
Shhh. Don't you tell anybody, the whole place slippin' away.
Where can we go, when there's no San Francisco?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

Where can we go, when there's no San Diego
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

Do you know the swim, you better learn quick Jim
Those who don't know the swim, better sing the hymn

Day after day, more people come to L.A.
Don't you tell anybody, the whole place slippin' away.
Where can we go, when there's no San Francisco?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

Day after day more people come to L.A.
Shhh. Don't you tell anybody, the whole place shakin' away.

Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.
